Fellow Saints of Immanuel and Trinity,
How do we, as children of the heavenly Father, react and deal with such evils in the world like sin, death and the devil? How do we, as the communion of saints, live in a world that encourages separation and seclusion? How do we, as those in regular need of Jesus’ gift of forgiveness, deal with this virus? We react, the way we always do, by gathering together around the Word of God being preached and taught in all truth and purity and receiving the Sacraments according to Jesus’ command and promise. We do so, remembering our baptism and Jesus’ command to pick up the cross and follow Him. We do so, eating and drinking the Lord’s body and blood, that we would grow in faith toward God and love toward our neighbor. But we do so, according to our government’s direction, as the Fourth Commandment teaches: Honor your father and your mother. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not despise or anger our parents and other authorities, but honor them, serve and obey them, love and cherish them. We do so, so that those who will be severely affected by this virus will be protected and cared for.
With that in mind, here is how the elders of both congregations have proposed moving forward:
First, we will not be able to gather for Bible Study, as more than nine are in attendance. I will still teach the study and have it on Facebook at 9:00a.m. on Wednesdays. Our page is: Immanueltrinitylutheran
Second, we will not be able to have Sunday school at Immanuel until further notice.
Third, Wednesday midweek services in lent will be canceled. I will still have the Wednesday evening service at 6:30p.m. for the confirmands and their families that their catechism questioning would be accomplished. This also means that there will not be meals prior to the service.
Fourth, because we cannot gather in groups larger than 10, we will not have our regular Sunday services.
We will have sign-ups for worship services starting this Sunday. There will be 1 hour increments, beginning at 8a.m. and ending when we are finished. The service will last roughly a half-hour, giving time for you to leave before the next group of 9 will gather. We will still have a video of the sermon on our Facebook page: Immanueltrinitylutheran for those who wish to watch/listen to pastor’s.
Fifth, Trinity will worship Wednesday mornings at 11:00.a.m. and Sunday mornings at 11:00a.m. at Trinity
Please call or text Pastor Dietrich (712) 887-1204 to schedule when you would like to come for worship this Sunday. This will be a Communion service. We will begin services at the top of the hour starting at 8:00a.m. until the last person has gathered at the altar to receive the Lord’s gifts.
As you know, for the sake of your neighbors, if you are sick please stay home.
